Chairman Ma Met with a Delegation of International Chamber of Shipping (ICS)

On October 15, Mr. Ma Zehua met with a delegation of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) in his capacity as Chairman of China Shipowners’ Association (CSA). Mr. Masamichi Morooka, ICS Chairman, Mr. Peter Hinchliffe, ICS Secretary General, and Mr. Simon Bennett, ICS Director of External Relations, delivered three presentations, introducing ICS's purpose, its covered areas and how it works. Chairman Ma listened to the presentations carefully and said that it is a pleasure to see that ICS has close ties with many intergovernmental organizations, international associations, and research institutes. ICS helps make the voice of global shipowners' heard, which is very important for the sustainable development of the shipping industry. The CSA is willing to continue to enhance communication with ICS, and serve as a bridge between the ICS, the Chinese government and shipowners in an effort to address the common challenges that the shipping industry faces.

The other attendees in ICS delegation are Captain Eugen Adami, President of Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr. Eric Banel, Director General of French Shipowners' Association, Mr. Gilbert Feng, Assistant Director of Hong Kong Shipowners’ Association, Mr. Armando Boccardo, Portuguese Shipowners' Association, and Mr. Jens Eskelund, Danish Shipowners’ Association and Maersk Managing Director in China.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Li Cunyin, Deputy Secretary General of CSA, and relevant staff from Executive Division, Transportation Division, Safety Superintendant Division, and Research and Development Center of COSCO Group.
